Middlesex Fells Reservation
This 2,575 acre reservation is a popular destination for mountain biking, hiking and other outdoor activities, and only a mile ride from Medford Square.

One of Medford's greatest assets, the Mystic River and Lakes offer swimming, boating and many other opportunities to experience nature. There are many cycle-friendly paths and roadways, but inter-connection is poor in many places. Improving this is a focus of the MBAC.

Greater Boston
Arlington Bicycle Advisory Committee
On Medford's Western border, just across the Mystic River and Lakes, there are many reasons for cyclists to ride over to Arlington. The 10-mile Minuteman Bikeway, which runs through Cambridge, Arlington, Lexington and Bedford is just one of them.
Boston Bikes
The City of Boston's initiative to encourage citizens and visitors to use bicycles for fun, exercise and transportation--and you don't have to live in Boston to take advantage of many of their offerings! One we really like the Roll it Forward bike donation program which will take your old bike, fix it and match it with someone who needs one. Bikes may be dropped off at many Greater Boston locations, including Medford's own JRA Cycles.
Boston Cyclists Union
A member-supported advocacy group that promotes the everyday use of bicycles in and around Boston. They are a great source of news and information on projects, proposals and bicycle-related news in our area.
Bike to the Sea
Since 1993 Bike to the Sea has been working to create the Northern Strand Trail, a community trail that starts in Everett and continues through Malden and Saugus, all the way to the beaches of Revere, Lynn and Nahant. Portions of the trail are still in the planning and construction stages.
Green Streets Initiative
The Green Streets Initiative is a grassroots organization dedicated to celebrating and promoting the use of sustainable, active transportation in the Boston region and beyond. Through their monthly Walk/Ride Days and other community and educational efforts, they help people experience environmentally friendly and healthier modes of transportation, change their daily routines, and enhance their lives. Their aim is to create safer, healthier, and quieter streets and more vibrant communities for commuters and citizens of all kinds.
LivableStreets Alliance
LivableStreets advocates for biking, walking and transit, creating safe streets and vibrant communities that make the Greater Boston region a better place to live, work and play. Steve Miller's blog is an excellent resource of insight and analysis of bicycle-related law and policy.
Project KidSafe
A safety campaign of the Boston law firm of Breakstone, White & Gluck, Project KidSafe donates bicycle helmets to children in the Boston area and generously provided the helmets that we distributed and fitted for over 60 kids at Medford Day 2017.
Somerville Bicycle Committee
Many streets in Medford cross the border into Somerville, so we have many common interests with our neighbor to the South. The Somerville Bicycle Committee also sponsors rides and events that are open to Medford cyclists.
